A business pays us £68 for every 1,000 leaflets delivered. You get £51 of that. The other £17 pays for the maps, the app, finding the work, chasing the invoices and paying you on time.
For every 1,000 leaflets
goes to you, and you see the exact amount on every zone before you take it.
Sign in on the website and you'll see open zones, nearest to your postcode first. Each one shows the streets on a map, the number of leaflets, your pay, the dates it has to be done between and the hours you can walk it.
Tap "Take this zone" and it's yours. It disappears from the board so nobody else can take it. If your plans change before you start, hand it back and it goes back up for someone else.
Every zone you take gives you a five-letter code. Type it into the Legwork app and the zone, its dates and its working hours load onto your phone. The code works once and lasts seven days.
Press Start when you reach your zone. The app draws your route on the map and buzzes if you stray outside the zone. Pause when you stop for a cuppa, and press Finish when you're done.
When you finish, tap "I've finished this zone" on the website. We look at your route, approve the zone, and the money goes into your account on the Friday after. Zones approved by Thursday are paid that Friday.
| Zone size | Your pay | Rough walking time |
|---|---|---|
| 500 leaflets | £25.50 | 2 to 3 hours |
| 800 leaflets | £40.80 | 3 to 5 hours |
| 1,000 leaflets | £51.00 | 4 to 7 hours |
| 1,500 leaflets | £76.50 | 6 to 10 hours, over more than one day |
Walking time depends on the streets. Terraces with doors close together are quick; detached houses with long drives and steps take longer. The board shows a time estimate for each zone, and your earnings page shows every zone you've done and what's been paid.
The app records your route during a round, inside the zone's working hours. Outside those hours it stops and waits.
Your route goes to the business about every 30 minutes and in full when you finish. They see the streets that were walked, your miles and your walking time.
Your steps, calories and anything else about you stay on your phone. Businesses never see them.
One leaflet through each door, all the way in. Skip houses with a "no junk mail" or "no leaflets" sign. If a zone has a note, like "no flats", follow it.
If you have leaflets left over, bring them back or tell us. Dumping leaflets ends your time with Legwork, and councils can fine people for it.
Press Start before your first door and Finish after your last. A route with gaps is hard for us to approve.
Walk in daylight hours, wear comfortable shoes, be careful of dogs and close every gate behind you.
No. You're self-employed. You choose whether to take a zone, which days to walk it and how long you take within its dates. You're responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
You need to be 18 or over to join.
Yes. Take as many as you can walk in their dates. If you can't get to one, hand it back so the business isn't left waiting.
Each zone says where to pick them up. For most jobs that's the business itself or from us in Chesterfield.
Message us. If a zone has fewer letterboxes than we expected, bring the spare leaflets back and we'll sort the rest out with the business.
The Legwork app is for iPhone, with Android to follow. When you join, we'll send you the link to install it. It works offline and sends your route when it gets signal.
